PRODUCT DETAILS

Product Details

Lavender essential oil is derived from the lavender plant (Lavandula angustifolia) through a process called steam distillation. It is a highly versatile and popular essential oil known for its calming and soothing properties. Here are some technical details about lavender essential oil:

1.Chemical Composition: Lavender essential oil contains a complex mixture of active chemical compounds, including linalool, linalyl acetate, lavandulol, lavandulyl acetate, terpinen-4-ol, and various other terpenes and esters. These compounds contribute to its unique aroma and therapeutic properties.

2.Aroma: Lavender essential oil has a floral, sweet, and herbaceous aroma. It is often described as relaxing, soothing, and balancing.

3.Color and Consistency: Lavender essential oil is colorless to pale yellow in appearance. It has a thin consistency.

4.Blending: Lavender essential oil blends well with many other essential oils, including bergamot, cedarwood, chamomile, clary sage, geranium, lemon, patchouli, rosemary, and ylang-ylang. These combinations can create a wide range of aromatic profiles and enhance its therapeutic effects.

5.Main Uses: Lavender essential oil has numerous applications and is commonly used in aromatherapy, skincare, and household products. Its main uses include promoting relaxation, relieving stress and anxiety, improving sleep quality, soothing minor skin irritations, and providing a pleasant fragrance in various products.

6.Safety Precautions: Lavender essential oil is generally considered safe for most people when used properly. However, it's important to note that essential oils are highly concentrated and should be diluted before use. Some individuals may have sensitivities or allergies to lavender oil, so it's recommended to perform a patch test before applying it to larger areas of the skin. Additionally, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and individuals with certain medical conditions should consult with a healthcare professional before using lavender essential oil.

7.Storage: To preserve the quality of lavender essential oil, it should be stored in a cool, dark place in a tightly sealed amber glass bottle. This helps protect the oil from light, heat, and air, which can degrade its potency over time.

Calculations

HOW TO CALCULATE FOR 3% ESSENTIAL OIL WITH 50ML CARRIER OIL :

CALCULATION FOR MANDELIC ACID: 3 × 50 ÷ 100 = 1.5 ML

CALCULATION FOR CARRIER OIL : 50-1.5 = 48.5 ML

ONE CAN INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF ESSENTIAL OIL IF THE SKIN IS NOT SENSITIVE.

How to use (Formulation Guide)

Formulating with essential oils requires careful consideration of their properties, safety guidelines, and appropriate dilution rates. Here's a general guide on how to formulate with essential oils:

1) Understand the properties and benefits of essential oils:
-Familiarize yourself with the properties, scent profiles, and potential benefits of different essential oils. Each essential oil has unique characteristics and therapeutic properties, so it's important to select oils that align with your desired formulation goals.

2)Choose a suitable carrier/base:
-Essential oils should not be used undiluted on the skin. They need to be diluted in a carrier/base before use.
-Common carrier oils include jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, and olive oil. These oils provide a medium for diluting essential oils and also offer their own benefits for the skin.

3) Determine the dilution rate:
-The dilution rate refers to the amount of essential oil to be added to a given amount of carrier/base oil. Dilution rates depend on various factors, including the purpose of the formulation, the intended use (body, face, hair), and the age and sensitivity of the person using the product.
-For adults, a common dilution rate is 2% to 3%, which equates to 12-18 drops of essential oil per 30 ml (1 oz) of carrier/base oil. However, certain essential oils may require lower dilutions due to their potency or potential skin sensitivity. Consult reliable resources or guidelines for specific essential oils.

4) Combine the essential oil and carrier/base oil:
-In a clean, dry container, add the desired amount of carrier/base oil.
-Add the appropriate number of drops of essential oil based on the chosen dilution rate. Remember to refer to guidelines and safety information for each essential oil to ensure you stay within safe limits.
-Stir or shake the mixture well to thoroughly combine the oils.

5) Optional additions:
-You can enhance your formulation by adding other ingredients like vitamin E oil (as a natural preservative), herbal extracts, or other oils with specific benefits (e.g., rosehip oil for anti-aging properties).
-Be cautious about the compatibility of additional ingredients and their potential interactions with essential oils. Research and conduct small-scale tests before making larger batches.

6) Store and label:
-Transfer the formulation to a clean, airtight container for storage. Amber glass bottles are often used to protect the oils from light exposure.
-Label the container with the date, ingredients used, and any specific instructions or precautions.

7)Safety considerations:
-Always follow safety guidelines and avoid excessive use or high concentrations of essential oils, as they can cause skin irritation or sensitization.
-Consider the specific safety precautions for each essential oil, including any contraindications or precautions related to pregnancy, children, or specific health conditions.
-Conduct patch tests before using the formulation on a larger area of the body to check for any adverse reactions.

Remember to consult reputable sources, books, or professional aromatherapists for more detailed information on specific essential oils, their properties, and suitable dilution rates.
